Here's a sneak peek at the most hotly-anticipated albums coming out this Fall.
Coldplay Mylo Xyloto October 25
Coldplay, fronted by Chris Martin, made the rounds this summer at music festivals and on TV shows to play songs from their new album. During the summer they released singles which will also most likely appear on the upcoming album including: “Princess of China,” “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall,” “Hurts Like Heaven,” “Us Against the World,” Major Minus,” and “Charlie Brown.” They also made their first Lollapalooza appearance and played well-known hits like “Yellow” combined with new songs like, “Charlie Brown.” If you want to hear it again played live you will probably have to wait until next year to see them tour again in the U.S. The new title (pronounced MY-lo ZY-letoe) will be released on October 25.
Kelly Clarkson Stronger October 25
Kelly Clarkson first dropped hints about her new album in November 2009, and after a long delay, her fifth album will be released October 25. The delay in this album was due mainly to restructuring at Sony Music, but it was considered a good move to move back the release of the CD. Her new single from the CD, “Mr. Know It All” became available on iTunes on Labor Day.
Tom Waits Bad As Me October 25
Tom Waits trademark growl is back with his album, Bad As Me, on October 25. The multi-talented Tom Waits is also an actor, but he started his music career in the 1970s. Some of his songs are best known for being covered by other artists, including “Jersey Girl” by Bruce Springsteen, so it will be interesting to see if any covers will emerge after the release of this album.
The Beach Boys The SMiLE Sessions November 1
The Beach Boys are back with a new album that will be release on November 1. This album is considered one of the “lost” albums of rock history. It was recorded in 1966 and 1967 and it was never released. The album isn’t lost anymore though. You won’t need a record player to play this new album though. The SMiLE Sessions is on a double-CD set, but it will be released with a 5-disc box set that will feature alternate takes and behind the scenes conversations from the studio while they were recording.
Florence and the Machine Title to be Determined November 7 in the U.K.
Florence and the Machine, featuring Florence Welch, became popular for their hits, “Dog Days Are Over” and “You’ve Got the Love.” The unique, powerful, and soulful sound of the band has made them popular around the world. Their sound goes beyond being merely another trendy voice on The Ellen Degeneres show or Jimmy Kimmel Live! Florence and the Machine have also performed at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. They released “What the Water Gave Me” on iTunes in August, and it will be included on their new album. Their second album has a title yet to be determined, but it will debut November 7 in the U.K.
