Cyberfashion: Double Duty Clothing
Feb 22, 2012 in Tech. 0 Comment
You may remember the old spy movies where people talked to their watches or pulled daggers out of their coat sleeves. While some of that was pure drama, today’s technology has advanced into clothing. Fashion designers and cyber techies are combining to create clothing with a double use.
Imagine always having headphones with you when you go for a jog. The hoodie has headphones woven into the material, with a jack in the pocket. The drawstrings have the earplugs that you can easily put into your ears; no more tangled up wires.
Oakley Sunglasses
A lot of companies have made their sunglasses with a built in music player. Not all of them look as cool or work as well as the Oakley sunglasses. With these sunglasses, you don’t have to carry an mp3 player.
James Bond Style Watches
Imagine being in a tight situation and you talk into your watch to your partner for them to rescue you. Now you can do that with cell phone watches. With Bluetooth technology, you can wear an earpiece that is connected to your wristwatch - aka cell phone. Don’t expect them to have all of the features of a Smartphone, but you can make and receive calls.
Some devices have a touch screen and a camera, with built in speakers and microphones. You can store contacts and use many other features of a traditional cell phone.
If you want to up your cool factor, you want to get one of these Dunhill wallets. The wallet recognizes your fingerprint and will only open for you. It has a biometric detector that you run your finger over. It is fairly easy to pry open, so it is not that practical for use as protection from a mugger. However, it is a fun tool to have, and it makes a great gift for a spy movie fan or tech person.
Bluetooth Technology
Bluetooth has adapted way beyond the typical earpiece. You will find a bracelet with Bluetooth technology that allows you to see who is calling you without hunting for your cell phone. You can also choose not to accept a call with the bracelet instead of pulling out the cell phone from your pocket or purse.
In addition, the bracelet vibrates to let you know that you are getting a call. So now if you are in a meeting, you can check your calls without being obvious. You can charge it at home with a charger, or on your computer, which is beneficial when you are at work.
You may hear about numerous other concepts, such as Heartbeat Hoodie, that takes pictures as the person’s heart rate increases. Other ideas are intriguing but not very practical. They do make fashion interesting, and you can find unique gifts for your cyber friends.
There are a lot of fun items that combine fashion and technology. Find one that will make your life easier or provide some entertainment.
