Feng Shui is an old Chinese system designed to improve one’s life by arranging things according to the laws of nature. Many people use this idea to design their homes. If you are interested in creating an oasis in your home using Feng Shui, here are some tips to help you.
1. Get Rid of Clutter.
One of the most important things you can do to establish a sense of peace inside your home is to get rid of excess items that you don’t use or love. This is not just a principle of Feng Shui; it pertains to any type of design you use. However, it will help to create more energy in your home, which is the basis of Feng Shui. You will be able to find things you need easier and won’t be dragged down by mounds of stuff.
2. Create Quality Light.
Light improves energy whether it is artificial or natural. Make sure you have access to good lighting in the rooms of your home. If you have several windows, use light curtains that can be opened to allow natural light into the room. If you have a room that does not have much natural lighting, buy lamps and bright lighting.
You can choose bulbs that have a soft glow so that the lighting isn’t harsh. You may need to have more lamps with this type of light. You can combine types of lighting to create a bright, warm room. Track lighting and lamps work well or pendant lighting and sconces can create a well-lit area without being too bright.
3. Improve the Air Quality.
Air is another essential element of Feng Shui. The air you breathe is often loaded with chemicals or pollutants, which can lower the quality and cause you to feel tired. You can use an air purifier at home, but there are other options that you can employ to help, too.
Buy plants that help purify the air. Palms, English Ivy, Boston Ferns, Rubber Plants, and Peace Lilies are good choices. You can find one of them to fit the design and light level of your home.
You can also use essential oils to clear the air in your home. These are different from fragrant oils that have had other chemicals added to them. Essential oils are still in their purest state. You can use diffusers or candles that contain essential oils to clear the air in a room.
Each oil has properties for different purposes; you will need to decide which ones you want to use. Lavender is used for purification while peppermint promotes clarity.
There are many other properties of Feng Shui that you can use in decorating your home. Many of them influence what items you will have in a room or where you will place things. These three basic concepts are easy to incorporate into your design and offer a good start to using Feng Shui in your design. You can create a restful environment that provides you with energy.
