Paint Colors That Will Sell Your Home

It’s a great time to be a seller in the market. If you’re prepping your home to put on the market, the color you paint the exterior and interior is a big deal. If you pick the wrong colors, you may not get a single bid. Fortunately, there are few trending colors on the market as well as some steadfast classics that you can use to make sure your home is attractive, from first impressions to last.

White

White is a classic color choice, especially for the exterior. In fact, one survey found that 40 percent of buyers preferred a white exterior. That’s because a fresh coat of white paint instantly gives your home a clean, pure appearance. But there are other more subtle benefits, too. White makes your home appear larger than it really is, and also reflects heat, keeping homes cooler and more energy efficient.

Setting Healthy Boundaries in Your Life

Setting Healthy Boundaries in Your Life

Your job, relationships, and countless other factors can inhibit your sense of well-being, but one way to prevent feeling like an over-stressed emotional wreck is to set personal boundaries for yourself. These boundaries should impact all aspects of your life – emotional, psychological, physical, mental, and spiritual. If you want to live happier with a higher quality of life, consider the following tips.

Personal Limits

Do you know what triggers your anxiety? Being able to identify the cause of your stress is the most important skill to master when setting healthy boundaries. Knowing specifically what makes you uncomfortable or resentful is also the first step to finding a tolerable limit. If you’re unable to immediately pin down aspects of your life that cause unnecessary pain, stress, or resentment, take out a sheet of paper and write about your worst experience that day. By writing down the experience you can reflect on what ignited the conflict, or why it began in the first place. Following this process a little bit each day, like keeping a journal, will help you determine over time where you need to set limits. For most people, it’s pretty easy to identify the biggest problems in their life - sometimes it’s a boss, a working environment, or even something as simple as traffic.

Adjustable Desks Let You Sit or Stand Throughout the Workday

A modern-day Hamlet might ponder, “To sit, or to stand, that is the question.” For the medical fraternity, the answer is easy: stand up and sit, just keep your body moving.

After 14 years of conducting a study for the American Cancer Society, epidemiologist Dr. Alpa Patel found that participants who sat during majority of the work day had a greater risk of cancer. According to the study, a woman who sits more than six hours a day is 34 percent more likely to die prematurely than a woman who sits for three hours or less a day. Men who sit six hours a day have 17 percent greater risk of premature death than men who sits for three hours or less.

A Problematic Corporate Wellness Movement

Despite growing research into the damaging effects of a sedentary work lifestyle, many companies loathe to renovate offices to improve employees’ health, posture, and longevity.

Greatest Moments in MLB Playoff History

Baseball’s postseason, so long as your favorite team makes it to the finals, is often more exciting than the regular season. With much on the line, teams and players are willing to give almost anything for a chance to make it to the pennant. Here are the greatest moments in MLB playoff history.

Curt Schilling & the Bloody Sock at the 2004 ALCS, Game 6

In the ultimate display of team before self, Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling played for seven innings, all while a bloody stain kept growing on his sock. Schilling had sustained a tendon injury in Game 1 of the ALCS playoffs, and one of the sutures keeping his ankle secure came loose during the game.

Francisco Cabrera’s Pinch Hit at the 1992 NLCS, Game 7

In 1992, the Atlanta Braves were up against the Pittsburgh Pirates for the division championship. In the 9th inning of the 7th and final game of the playoffs, Cabrera made a game-winning pinch hit. As Cabrera’s hit soared just over Pirates shortstop Jay Bell, David Justice and Sid Bream made it to the home plate, sending the Braves to the World Series.
