10 Signs It's Time for a Career Change

Wondering if it's time to change careers? Well, that's your first sign that it probably is. Here are 10 more signs that you deserve a better job.

1. You dread Mondays

It's natural to feel a little weekend hangover on Monday, but if you find yourself absolutely dreading Mondays every single week, it's a sign that your job has become a source of frustration and depression for you.

2. You don't see a clear path to promotion

Status and money actually have very little to do with your happiness at work. However, the allure of improving your station in life and taking on more challenging projects is a big part of what keeps a job interesting and exciting.

3. You are constantly bored at work

Unless you are a stunt driver or a rock star, there are likely going to be some boring moments at your job. However, constant boredom is your mind's way of telling you, "you were meant for something more stimulating and meaningful."

How to Survive Allergy Season

Reaching for that box of Kleenex again? If you suffer from outdoor or seasonal allergies, you’re not alone! According to some estimates, between 10 and 36 million people suffer from seasonal allergies in the U.S. alone. Before you start sneezing again, consider the following preventative techniques that can help you survive even the worst seasonal allergies.

Medicine

Did you know you can find many effective antihistamines, eye drops, and nasal sprays at a drug store? Up until a few years ago, many allergy sufferers required a prescription for anti-allergy drugs, but most of those are now sold over-the-counter. Most Memorable Moments of the French Open

With 123 years of history, the French Open has a lot of stories and memories behind it. Here’s a look at some of the most memorable moments that have come about with the French Open.

This was the very first French Open and it was only open to men. They had to be members of the French club. However, the first winner, H. Briggs, was a tennis player from Britain that happened to be living in Paris at the time.

1897

Automakers Urged to Simplify In-car Technology

Automakers Urged to Simplify In-car Technology

Car manufacturers like Volkswagen, Ford, and Nissan are chomping at the bit to attract hyper-digital consumers. But advanced synchronization and technology may compromise safety, distracting drivers from paying attention to the road.

National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah Hersman admonished automakers for investing too little in safety measures. “If the auto manufacturers focused as much on safety as they do on marketing their products, we would save a lot of lives,” Hersman said.

As a result of too many “distracted-driving” related accidents, U.S. regulators are pushing for more stringent guidelines for car manufacturers. The Transportation Department issued guidelines for automakers to bar use of Internet browsers and social media apps in vehicles. The department also asked them to refine vehicle navigation systems and touch-screen capabilities so that they are simple and do not require the driver to look away from the road for more than two seconds.

What Are the Distractions?

Cellphones have long been the antagonist in the issue of distracted driving, but most devices produced today come with hands-free modes.

Can You Find Out How Smart Your Dog Is?

Can You Find Out How Smart Your Dog Is?

While it’s no secret that most dogs are rather smart, there is a difference between how smart they are and how they learn. At least that’s the theory behind Dognition, a web app that’s designed to test your dog’s intellect.

How it began

Brian Hare was interested in learning how his dog thought while studying animal psychology in college. After graduating, he published results from informal studies that he and his colleagues conducted about dogs and their learning capabilities. He formed a company called Dognition, which also includes a web site that helps people understand their dog’s learning abilities.

The reasoning behind this is that while many dogs are trained as service dogs, about 7 out of 10 fail. They may not understand the commands or the human point of view. Hare’s goal is to learn what makes a service dog successful, which will help those training them to pick dogs with the right potential. He has designed 30 individual tests that help determine the cognitive learning style of the dog.

Where it’s going

Hare warns that the tests are not meant to compare dogs to designate one better than the other.
