At the time, Greg was a confirmed bachelor and the director of economic development in Schenectady. Nancy was a single mother of two working for the Chamber of Commerce. Both admit they were dragged to this “work function” and had little interest in anything other than making an appearance. But they found themselves standing next to each other on the rail of the ship and made an instant connection. After reaching the dock, they went for coffee at the Water’s Edge restaurant and ended up chatting until sunrise.

A Defining Characteristic

That connection is still just as strong 20 years later. And the defining characteristic of their relationship has always been commitment. A steadfast commitment to each other, to their two children, and to their professional careers. After marrying, Greg would routinely travel more than two hours just to see the little league games of their two boys before returning to Syracuse for a business meeting. He did this not because he had to, but because of the loving commitment he made to both Nancy and to their two sons.

A Rewarding Journey

Indeed, this shared sense of commitment is what allowed Greg to embark on a 20-year tenure with the McDonald’s organization as a real estate director. While they moved around the country nine different times, it was their pledge to each other that turned what could have been a challenging experience into a rewarding journey before returning to settle down in Mission Viejo. This dedication is also reflected intheir recreational activities. In fact, the entire family took up skiing together on Greg’s 40th birthday. Today, Greg and Nancy still love the freedom of skiing, but they also enjoy sharing a friendly round of golf together on one of Southern California’s many picturesque courses.
